Official National Scout Jamboree emblem

This is where I would place the 2010 National Jamboree® emblem. I do not have BSA permission as of October 2009 to do so; when I do receive this permission, I will display it here along with a link to the BSA's official Jamboree® insignia page.

Wearing Jamboree® Insignia

NOTE: I do NOT have permission to display the 2010 National Scout Jamboree® emblem as of the date of this page's creation. The BSA does not wish to provide that permission to any website other than those belonging to a local Council, the National Jamboree Service, or those individuals whom have been granted permission IN WRITING to use the indicia and/or emblems. I have requested permission in writing but have not received an answer granting me authorization to show the official insignia. I am still working on it.

However, since this site is used by more and more local Councils as a resource, the BSA did grant me permission to illustrate the various OFFICIAL Jamboree® emblems for all previous National and those World Jamborees the BSA participated in as far as insignia is concerned.

The BSA reminded me to remind folks that the word "Jamboree®" is a registered trademark of the BSA and that all emblems and designs associated with the National Scout Jamboree® are COPYRIGHTED. Local Council webmasters ONLY have permission to use the official emblems and designs on their websites. If you are a Scouter wanting to use the emblem's design locally, PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR COUNCIL OFFICE BEFORE USING THE EMBLEM. As I get the time to completely update this site, I will be using the most recent Jamboree® insignia. Thanks to those who lobbied on my behalf to make this happen...

John Q wrote and asked:

We had a Scout wearing the 2001 Jambo patch over his right breast pocket, and a (special) council strip on his sleeve. Seems to me that a Scout can't wear a patch for an event he hasn't attended. What's the "official" policy?

National Scout Jamboree® emblems (shown are 1997 emblems)

(From the BSA Supply Bulletin)

"Scouts, Scouters, Venturers and adult Venturing leaders selected to participate or serve as staff members may wear the Jamboree® emblem centered above the "Boy Scouts of America" strip on the right side of the uniform shirt (and above any and all interpreter strip(s) received) [A], immediately after their first payment toward the Jamboree has been received by the Jamboree Service.

There are two separate official Jamboree® emblems. One is to be worn by individuals 17 years of age and younger; the other by individuals 18 years of age and older.

They may continue to wear the emblem as a promotion and inspirational item before, during and after the Jamboree®.

Local Councils [B]and the four BSA Regions [C]may produce special Jamboree® insignia to be worn by participants and staff members before and during the Jamboree® and for six months after the conclusion of the National Jamboree®. Such insignia must be approved in advance by either the Regional or Council Scout Executive to purpose and usage prior to wearing.

Individual Jamboree Troops are not permitted to design nor procure Jamboree® emblems except as outlined above. Jamboree® Troops will use the standard Boy Scouts of America unit insignia and will not create special unit insignia.

The official Jamboree® emblems are registered trademarks of the Boy Scouts of America, and may not be reproduced, copied or altered without the written permission of the National Director of the Jamboree Service and the National Director of Program."

This is in line with previous Jamborees (except for the new "dual patches" to ID youth and adult participants) which allowed those whom have paid to attend to display the Jamboree® emblem for up to a year in advance of the Jamboree®...it is intended as a promotional and personal recognition item.

Great question!
